Who is at the shop

At the shop we field a lot of questions. Here are some of the questions and answers to what are our most common questions.

Q: Do you buy cards?
A: Yes, we do buy cards and collections. We are most interested in baseball and football cards manufactured before 1985. As a general rule, we do not buy cards manufactured between the mid-1980s and late 1990s. Unfortunately, sports cards manufactured during these years were mass produced and hold little to no value. Q: I have a truckload of cards from the ‘80s and ‘90s. What can I do with them?
A: I’d suggest picking out all the key cards from the period by using a Beckett Price Guide as a point of reference. If you are sitting on a few of those 1993 and 1994 Jeter and A-Rod SP Baseball rookies or 1991 and 1992 Favre Stadium Club rookies, bring’em in and we'll make you an offer. Otherwise you can donate the rest to your favorite charity, give'em away to your kids or relatives, or use them to start a camp fire.

Q: Do you appraise collections?
A: Yes, we do appraise collections. Price is $30 per hour. If we are able to make a deal, we will absorb the cost at no additional charge to you.

Q: Can you look up prices on a few cards for me?
A: Beckett publishes price guides for virtually every sport and we carry all of the latest issues. That being said, if you have one or two cards, we're happy to look them up unless we are swamped at the shop. Customers in the store take precedence to looking up prices on the phone.

Q: Your packs and boxes more expensive than what I can buy online. Why?
A: The answer is simple. It's called ‘volume’ and overhead. Internet sellers (distributors) are working off a volume business model. The more boxes they can push out, the higher quantities they can order, and the less it costs.

Q: What grading and authentication services do you recommend?
A: For vintage cards, PSA. For modern cards, Beckett Grading Service. For autograph and signature authentication, PSA/DNA.

Q: Where are you located? How do I get there?
A: Sports Center Cards is located at 4725 South 131st Street, Omaha – just one block southeast of 132^nd & “L” Streets inside the Western Bowl bowling alley. For first-timers, finding us can be a little tricky, but find us once and you'll never forget it!

Q: What makes your shop special?

Q: How old is Carly?
A: She will be 7 years old in June, 2011.

Q: What kind of dog is Carly?
A: She is a purebred brindle boxer. “Brindle” refers to her coloring. The other popular types are “fawn” – tan color – “white” which is technically not recognized by the AKA, and “black” – another hybrid that is gaining popularity.
